Last week at the Club Assembly, the Club passed the updated Club bylaws and Donations Policy with a few amendments. These will be put onto the Website for reference.
I also read out a statement which was developed and endorsed by the Board at it’s last meeting, representing its view of recent matters and its objectives for the future of our Club.
“Although the members of Rotary Club of Matilda Bay regret the decision of some of our number to form another club, we are committed to moving forward and of assuring a very successful future for our club.
The breaking away is now in the past and any disappointments will be overcome as we strengthen our club and work for the future. Those former members of our club will be treated with the same courtesy and respect as is afforded to all Rotarians.
Our relationship with the proposed new club will be one of cooperation and fraternity, in the same way that we relate with all other clubs in our district.
Rotary’s service to the community demands that we spend our energy working for worthwhile projects and expanding our membership.
The Rotary Club of Matilda Bay will work toward continuing to be one of the strongest and most respected clubs in our district. We aim to achieve this with common goals, input from every member and a sense of fellowship that reflects the ideals of Rotary."
I sent out the proposed legislative changes that are going to be decided in Chicago in April, PDG Colin Thorniley is our District’s representative and will be attending this meeting.
